So a long long time ago, back when Martine still worked at American Eagle, Jimmy and I were visiting her at AE when this catchy ass tune came onto play. I stopped what I was doing, and just concentrated on the lyrics, because as long as you get a sentence or two and google "these would be the words" + "lyrics" all in quotes then you would most likely find your song. Luckily though, this AE, or probably all of them, had some TVs hanging around, so the music was coming from a music video, and after seeing them in action, I knew I had to cop that.
The Band, CSS (Cansei der Ser Sexy or "Tired of Being Sexy" in Brazilian Portuguese).
The Song, Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above:
CSS - Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above
So long story short, I was curious about the song title and decided to google this "Death From Above" to see what I would get. Turns out, I got an awesome band that is comprised of just a bassist and a drummer with the latter being the singer. I know, weird duo, huh. So here are a couple songs from them:
Death From Above 1979 - Romantic Rights
(My absolute favorite song from them, the chorus and riffs just can't get any better.)
Death From Above 1979 - Blood On Our Hands
(Also fantastic with brilliant lyrics.)
Death From Above 1979 - Black History Month
(Taking it down a notch with something a little slower and softer.)
Annnnnnd then I decided to Wiki Death From Above to see their history and that's where I found out that the band had been broken up with one of the members going on to become half of a little electronic group named MSTRKRFT. You might of heard of 'em.
MSTRKRFT - Work On You
They also do some fabulous remixes:
Metric - Monster Hospital (MSTRKRFT Remix)
Annie - Heartbeat (MSTRKRFT Remix)
Jessie McCartney - Leavin' (MSTRKRFT Remix)
And probably their most popular remix (maybe most popular song):
Justice - D.A.N.C.E. (MSTRKRFT Remix)
I can go on forever about MSTRKRFT (their Dj sets, oh lawdy lord) but I'm gonna end this post now. Hope you found at least one song that you liked today.
